Mario Acevedo returns with his second book, X Rated Bloodsuckers, the sequel to The Nymphos of Rocky Flats, his highly praised 1st novel featuring vampire PI Felix Gomez. Acevedo has changed my reading habits, normally I am not a fan of the crossover novel but these books are wonderfully written, hard boiled, with great plotting. He also manages to make the books sexy and funny.

In Bloodsuckers, Felix is hired by a porn star to investigate a murder and is also sent by the Araneum, the secret Vampire ruling counsel, to figure out why LA vampires are breaking the biggest rule of all, going public. Bloodsuckers is a first rate, tough PI novel, with excellent supernatural overtones. Felix was turned into a vampire by an ancient, giving him powers he is just beginning to understand. This is writing entertainment of high order and I urge everyone to try this series.
