Copperhead is the second in Bernard Cornwell's brilliant series featuring Nate Starbuck, rebel, honorable rogue and outstanding soldier fighting for the South in The American Civil War. Cornwell began writing this series in the mid 1990's, there are four all together, but was forced to concentrate on writing The Sharpe novels when the BBC began filming them with Sean Bean as Sharpe. Cornwell says there may be more Starbuck books yet to come, one can only hope. Cornwell, who writes five different historical adventure series, is simply one of the great, elite fiction writers working today. His books are historically accurate, most of the characters really lived, his plotting is excellent, his characters come to life and his ability to describe action and war is amazing. Even though most of the books are based around wars, all readers will love Cornwell's work, The Starbuck series is no exception.
