NEVER FEAR
|
NEVER FEAR is the second novel from screenwriter Scott Frost, whose work has
included the X-Files and Twin Peaks. His screenwriting has served him well in
his forays into the novel format with wonderful back-story and no red herrings.
NEVER FEAR brings back Alex Delillo (first seen in 2004’s RUN THE RISK),
a Pasadena detective who discovers she has a half brother only after the he
is found dead. It may be too late for her to know him but she is on the trail
of his killer. The case gets deep when she discovers ties to an earlier string
of murders that may involve her estranged father.
Calling this a thriller is kind of like calling Metallica heavy metal it goes
a couple notches past thrilling. Frost does an incredible job of keeping the
plot flying forward, amping it up more and more. He nails the Los Angeles setting
and his plotting is intricate and tight.
