Now You See Him

What makes a mystery a mystery? I once thought a murder in the story was enough
but after reading Now You See Him by Eli Gottlieb I'd have
to say this novel is on the fringe of mystery. A compelling story, which on
the surface is about a murder, suicide; it's actually the story of Nick Framingham's
slow unraveling because of and after the event. His boyhood friend, author,
Rob Castor, had some literary status through his writing but lost it to his
girl friend's rising celebrity. This is a speedy read despite its moody story
line. One can see why it might be construed as a mystery as there is the murder
and a twist ending of sorts. If you're looking for a transitional read, one
bridging modern lit and mystery lit. Now You See Him is just
the thing. Very internal, very character driven. The release date says February.
It does have a melancholic, wintery feel to it. Look for it then.
