David Rosenfelt has written an excellent first book that is both legal thriller and wise guy fiction. Lawyer Andy Carpenter accepts his father's dying wish to represent a death row inmate, who may be innocent. Set in New Jersey, this book has all the trappings for an excellent series. There is a beautiful, tough PI girlfriend, a separated wife and other interesting characters. This first mystery also has an exciting, twisting plot. This is also a small print run, so collectors take note.
