Sword Song

In the past two years I have read and reviewed many of the Bernard Cornwell novels. He is a master of historical adventure and the author of over five different series, all brilliant. He is best known for the Richard Sharpe books, a British soldier fighting against the French and Napolean. Another series is set in 9th century England as Alfred the Great has begun to unify areas that will soon be called England.
Sword Song is the fourth in this the Saxon series that stars Uhtred, Alfred's great Pagan warrior. Cornwall has the ability to combine incredible, accurate, historical detail with facinating characters, many who really lived. I am well on my way to reading every novel Cornwell has written. In Sword Song, Uhtred leads the forces in an attempt to capture Lundene and open the Thames river to trade. If one has never read Cornwell, start now.
