THE INTERROGATION
|
In Thomas Cooks new book, The Interrogation, we have a murdered
girl, two primary detectives, a police chief, his priest, two criminals a prime
suspect and twelve hours to get a confession before said suspect must be released
because of lack of evidence.
In this beat the clock book Mr. Cook proves yet again why he has
become one of the Mystery genres most anticipated novelists. As we all
know in a good mystery things are never as cut and dried as they seem. Mr. Cooks
sense of urgency in this book is conveyed to the reader easily. He provides
us with 20 years of background on all the characters, follows the leads with
a speedy authority, gives us periodic glimmers to the truth of the case while
involving us in the grim realities of the principal players existence. And the
clock ticks. Well written words travel from your eyes as you turn the pages
waiting for the next surprise in this wonderful book. The Interrogation
has but one drawback, Mr. Cook promised us twelve hours and I only got three.
