The Treatment
|
Mo Hayder introduced us to Jack Caffery in her debut novel, The Birdman. In the second book in the series Jack is back. And the case they are working on is dredging up things from his past. Things that mess with his head and are intruding on the rest of his life. The book opens with a family home invaded. The Mother and Father bound and left to die and the little boy missing. Which is a strong reminder to Jack that his little brother Ewan was never found. As the case progresses, Jack starts to feel that his own sanity may be slipping as well. While the police department work to locate the boy and the person behind this twisted crime, Jack finds new evidence about his own brothers disappearance.
This book demanded to be read right through, no sleeping, no stopping. At three oclock in the morning I found my self making coffee so that I could finish the book. It grabbed me and would not let go. Its dark and compelling and wonderful. This book will be clinging to my subconscious for some time to come.
