Barrie Sherwood has crafted a fine first novel that takes the reader into a mad trip through modern Japan. Aozora, a college student is on the run from a loan shark. He inherits some money but in order to collect he must kidnap his sister from the Yakuza, who own an amusement park. This journey will show how the modern and the traditional cultures of Japan interact.
Sherwood keeps the pace rocking along. Through Aozora we meet fascinating well drawn characters and learn about the enigma that is modern Japan. This is an original work and I look forward to Sherwood's next book.
