Dope Thief is a first hard boiled crime novel by Dennis Tafoya. Ray and Manny are stick up criminals who dress as DEA agents and rob low to mid level drug dealers. One robbery goes very bad, they steal to much money and now crank dealing killers are after them and want their money back. What follows is a fine nest of vipers thriller that also delves into corruption and redemption of the human soul.

Tafoya is adept at the violent action scenes and there are plenty of them. There is also fine character developement as we fine out the details of their lives that led to criminal behavior and the difficulty criminals have in trying to lead a normal life. Mr. Tafoya seems to have an insiders view of crime and I look forward to his nesxt book.
