The Last Gig
|
Norman Green is one of crime fiction's best kept secrets. He is the author
of five excellent novels set mostly around NYC, yet remains somewhat unknown.
Two of his novels feature very tough, honorable Brooklyn con men, a third, The
Angel of Montague Street features a special forces soldier returning back to
his Brooklyn Mafia roots. I have read and enjoyed all of these books.
Mr. Green returns with The Last Gig, featuring NYC lady PI Alessandra Martillo.
She is hired by an Irish mob boss to find out who is using his shipping company
to sell drugs. Martillo is simply one of the most original fiction heroines
in recent years. Green books have exceptional ambiance, his NYC is tough, gritty
and realistic as is his plotting. This is one of the best PI novels in the last
few years and despite the fact that this is a male writer with a female lead
men will love this book. Do not miss it.
