Michael Sears and Stanley Trollip, friends from South Africa, are the writing team known as Michael Stanley. They return with The Second Death of Goodluck Tinubu, the second in their wonderful traditional mystery series set among the CID division of the Botswana police. Two guests are murdered at a bush vacation camp and Detective David "Kubu" Bengu is sent in to investigate. After Rhodesia declared its independence from the United Kingdom in 1965 a brutal guerrilla war was fought between the government and black freedom movements leading to the creation of Zimbabwe. With this political back drop Michael Stanley has fashioned another excellent police procedural with great African ambiance, fine characters and excellent plotting. I urge all mystery readers to try this outstanding, original new series.
